Nick – Motion Graphics

Synonymous with fun, bright colours, slime and laughter, Nickelodeon has been around for over 40 years and has been the leading source for children’s entertainment since 1977.The goal here was to keep the geometry animation simple, yet create a fast, kinetic visual to keep the flow moving. Previews for what is to come in the year paired with flat, colourful designs. I chose a dance theme (videos of dancing characters/people, Billy Idol’s “Dancing with Myself”) to give the whole commercial an amusing and entertaining vibe.

I wanted to give a kids channel a try. The clear, easy choice was to do something for YTV, but being so familiar with its aesthetics, it would have been too hard to not be influenced by it’s past identity. Since Canada never received a Nickelodeon channel (at least while I was growing up), I thought the choice to tackle Nick made more sense.
